Updated: Apr 18, 2018

A consult is helpful when:

  • You just have questions and need answers!

  • You’re concerned about your baby’s behavior, including:

  • not latching

  • falling asleep at the breast

  • sleeping too much or not enough

  • being fussy at the breast or inconsolable

  • latching then sliding down the nipple or slipping off the breast

  • You have concerns about baby’s weight or stool output

  • You feel like you don’t have enough milk - or feel like you have too much milk

  • You have severe engorgement or plugged ducts

  • You have difficulty getting a comfortable latch

  • Another care provider suspects a tongue tie or other oral /oromotor issue is impairing feeding
